Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings is a mass battle wargame produced by Para Bellum Wargames. The rules are quick and easy to learn for a new player but are still able to offer a new and complex strategy to master. Conquest focuses its play around the command stack mechanic, where each player determines at the beginning of the round what order his troops are going to be activated in. Coupled with a unique escalation reinforcement mechanic, the fog of war is a very real thing.
This event will use the Longshanks event software for generating pairings and calculating standings. If you wish, you may register yourself into that system ahead of time using the Longshanks Registration link.
Time: 11:00 AM
Format: Doubles. Two players will team up and play the tournament together. Each pair of teammates will play 3 games against other pairs of teammates. Your teammate's army is completely separate from your own; their units are not considered friendly or enemy units. All special rules are tracked separately for each army; things like Warchants, Power Pools, and Empowerment Pools are all treated as if the armies are completely separate. The only exceptions to this will be the March Through and Charge Through rules; you may treat your partner's units as friendly for purposes of these two rules only.
At the start of each round, you and your teammate will roll for reinforcements separately and build separate Command stacks. Next, each team will decide who is Player A and who is Player B for that round. Then your team will roll off with the other team to determine the First Team and Second Team. Players will activate as follows:
Army Composition: 1000 points per player (2000 per team). Any model with rules in your Army List is allowed. Substituted and unofficial models are allowed, especially for models that have not yet been released officially, so long as (a) you make clear what each model represents and (b) all models are in correctly-sized trays. Your army is considered to be 1000 points for all purposes (such as thresholds for Old Dominion Empowerment Pool Tiers).
Scenarios: The scenarios for this event will be announced as the event gets closer.
Structure: 3 rounds, 2.5 hours per round, w/ 30-minute break between 1st & 2nd rounds
Entry: $10 per player ($20 per team)
Prizes: Store credit, with amount depending on number of participants.
Painting: Painted armies are encouraged, but not required.
