Join us for a casual X-Wing tournament using as many of the new rules as possible, as well as something similar to the upcoming Standard format! Each round will be randomly determined to be either a standard dogfight or the new Assault on the Satellite Array scenario (rules below). We’ll add additional scenarios if we get information from AMG before the tournament. All players will play the same scenario each round. It’s greatly appreciated for any players who can bring the ten objective tokens from the Epic Battles Multiplayer Expansion to do so; otherwise, the TO will supply tokens or substitutes.
Format: Black Box (2nd edition reprints) with a ban list. If AMG changes the format before the tournament, we’ll update this. Please use the builder here.
Tournament Structure:Swiss rounds and a potential graduated cut based on the number of players. Tiebreakers for seeding a cut will use a modified strength of schedule.
Round Time:All rounds have a 12 round or 75-minute limit, whichever comes first.
Game Tiebreaker: If a game ends with both players having destroyed the same number of points or earned the same number of objective points, a Judge or the Tournament Organizer selects the winner via die roll, coin flip, or another random agreed-upon method.
Player Order:Each player rolls three attack dice. The player with the most crit results is the first player. In the case of a tie, the first player is the player with the most eye results. If there is still a tie, the first player is the player with the most hit results. If the roll is still tied, players roll again using the rules until the tie is broken. After all ships have dials assigned to them, players roll to determine player order for the round. Note that during the first round of the game, player order is determined during Setup (this roll determines setup and the first turn). After player order has been determined, play proceeds to the System Phase.
Deficit Scoring:Any points out of 200 that you have unspent, your opponent scores at the beginning of the game.
Obstacles:Asteroids:
If you move through or overlap an asteroid, suffer one damage and roll one attack die. On a hit or crit result, suffer one damage.
Debris:
If you move through or overlap debris, gain a stress and roll one attack die. On a hit or crit result, suffer one damage.
Gas Cloud:
f you move through or overlap a gas cloud, break all locks, gain one strain, and roll one attack die. On a hit result, gain one ion token; on a crit result, gain three ion tokens.
Rigged Cargo Chute and Spare Parts Canisters:
If you overlap or move through one of these, gain a stress and roll one attack die. On a hit or crit result, gain one strain.
Overlapping and Moving Through:
If you are overlapping an asteroid, debris, or gas cloud, you cannot attack, and you skip your perform action step. If you move through one of these obstacles but do not overlap, you do not skip your perform action step (you won’t get an action moving through debris because of the stress).
Tractor Rules: You cannot tractor reposition a ship onto an obstacle.
Prizes:
Alternate art cards, acrylic tokens, and potentially store credit based on the number of entries.
