After a 20-year hiatus, Indiana Jones returns in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull for another action-packed archeological quest set in the 1950s. Steven Spielberg mans the helm of his fourth Indy adventure, with visual effects provided by Industrial Light & Magic. Then, director Christopher Nolan continues the Batman saga in The Dark Knight with the Caped Crusader battling the nefarious Joker. Double Negative, BUF and Framestore are among the effects vendors. Director Guillermo del Toro resurrects Mike Mignola's demon-spawned superhero in Hellboy II: The Golden Army for an epic conflict with an evil elfin prince and his fantasy minions, featuring makeup from Spectral Motion and DDT, and visual effects by Double Negative. Finally, in Hancock Will Smith plays a superhero with character flaws and an alcohol problem in the comedy adventure directed by Peter Berg, with visual effects designed by visual effects supervisor John Dykstra and executed by Sony Pictures Imageworks.
