Comics: Princes of the Universe
by Dee. 5/2/2018Hello everyone:
This month, we have Venomized and a preview of Stellar. And don't forget, Free Comic Book Day is Saturday, May 5!
Venomized (Marvel Comics): For those of you not familiar with Venom or Poison, these are two different symbiotes that impose their will on superheroes, making them more vicious and adapting their powers. Venom does not destroy its host, while the Poisons consume their vessels.
We set the scene with the Poison encroaching on the galaxy, clashing with the X-Men and Venom before heading to Earth and enslaving more heroes. It seems that attaching the Venom symbiote is only step one in their evil plan...
It helps significantly if you have some exposure to the other Marvel characters, but it's not absolutely necessary to know each of their origin stories or list of powers. This story does link into 2016's Venomverse, as that was the first time that you met the race of Poisons.
Since Venomized is a weekly comic, we are currently four issues deep. They are an interesting read, and I hope you will enjoy it.
Stellar (Skybound / Image Comics): This tale from a far-flung future about a bounty hunter who formerly stopped an intergalactic war is quite remarkable. The background panels of our story show the aftermath of the war and sets up a rich history slowly being revealed through the broken relics and mess left behind.
Writer Joseph Keatinge (Evolution, Shutter, Tech Jacket) and artist Bret Blevins (New Mutants, Sleepwalker) have created an interesting story around a character originally created by Robert Kirkman (Walking Dead, Invincible, Outcast) and Marc Silvestri (Wolverine, Cyberforce). The coloring is in blue and orange hues for a stunning contrast of cold space and fiery destruction.
I am interested to see where this comic leads, as time and space are warping as a result of the war, which might mean the return or arrival of other people-turned-weapons into Stellar's life.
Release date: June 13.
See you around,
